Common questions

What operators ask before they send one

Is this motorhome hire agreement generator free?
Yes. There is no account, no paywall and no watermark. You answer a short set of questions, and the generator produces a branded PDF you can send to a customer the same day. You can come back and regenerate it whenever your terms change.
What licence class does the agreement require?
It records that the driver holds a full licence of the class appropriate for the vehicle, and captures the licence details against the hire. On heavier motorhomes the class is the thing most often missed at pickup, and it is the first thing an insurer will look at after a claim.
Does it deal with height and bridge strikes?
Yes. The vehicle's height is stated in the agreement and the hirer is made responsible for clearance. Bridge and canopy strikes are among the most expensive motorhome claims and are almost always excluded from the standard excess cap, so the clause states that liability separately.
Does it cover self-containment and gas?
The hirer is responsible for keeping the self-containment certification intact, for dump-station-only waste disposal, and for safe use of on-board gas including shutting it off for ferry crossings. Certification rules change, so the agreement makes the hirer responsible for compliance rather than restating the current standard.
Can I use my own wording instead?
Every clause the generator produces is a starting point you edit, not a fixed template. Change the wording, add clauses of your own, or delete the ones that do not apply to how you hire. What comes out is your document, carrying your business name and your conditions.
Is this legal advice?
No. This tool produces a practical starting point built from how New Zealand hire operators actually run, not advice about your obligations. Before you rely on it, have it reviewed by a lawyer who knows your business, particularly the liability, insurance and bond clauses.
