Payments, deposits & bonds
Taking deposits and balances, automating reminders, and holding bonds.
- How do deposits and balance payments work?
-
Customers pay a deposit online when they book (you choose the percentage). The remaining balance can be collected however suits you — manually when you're ready, or automatically on a schedule.
Glovebox can send the customer a fresh, secure payment link for the balance, and every automated money email is saved so you can see exactly what the customer received.
- Can Glovebox chase the balance automatically?
-
Yes. Each booking can run on a payment schedule with one of three levels:
- Manual — you decide when to request payment;
- Review queue — Glovebox prepares the reminder and you approve it; or
- Automatic — Glovebox sends reminders (and, if you enable it and the customer has a saved card, charges the balance) on your cadence.
Nothing sends without your say-so unless you turn automation on, and you can freeze any individual booking.
- How are bonds handled?
-
Bonds are placed as a hold on the customer's card rather than a charge. You can request a bond hold manually, or have it placed automatically as part of the booking's schedule.
Holds are released after the vehicle comes back, on a timeframe you set. If a hold can't be placed automatically, Glovebox falls back to emailing the customer a request rather than silently failing.
